The 24hr Hazwoper is for workers occasionally on site for a limited task or full-time site workers. Both worker categories are to work in areas where they are unlikely to be exposed over PEL’s and/or the site has been monitored and fully characterized indicating exposure levels are under PEL’s and published exposure levels where respirators are not necessary and the characterization indicates there are no health hazards or the possibility of an emergency developing. One day of documented actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor is part of this training requirement. Workers with 24 hours of training who become general site workers or who are required to wear respirators, shall have an additional 16 hours of training and two days of actual field experience (40hr Hazwoper).
